Everyday is a dream come true. On Sunday at the Oscars that precious young woman Lupita Nyong’o said: “No matter where you’re from, your dreams are valid.” If each of us would internalize that, chew on it, and make it our own, there is no telling where or how far we will go with those valid dreams. Food for thought!
I am really excited to be counting down to when you and I will have a face-to-face about my book. As I have said repeatedly, this was a labor of love and an opportunity to tell the world how much I enjoy being a parent. My journey – up close and personal, that’s all! Come by Zion Baptist Church on March 8th anytime from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. I will see you there…
Today I received a “how goes it” call from the Rev. Alexis Alonzo Alexander who is the artistic phenomenon behind the picture of my children on this site’s home page and in the text book. He is such a good friend and constant encourager of my writing. Tommy and I appreciate his friendship very much.
Just received this message and it touched my heart so, I just had to share: Mrs. Keitt I am always in conversations about the issues our community (Black folks) are facing and I always have the same solution. Strengthen our family units and raise our children, some type of education beyond high school, and belief in a higher power. I have two children that I love with all my heart. My daughter, Dara, 19 is intellectually disabled. I am prepared for her to be with me for the rest of my life. She is the child the Lord blessed me with and I am good with that. My son, Malik, 17, will graduate this year. He has already been accepted to two colleges and will be leaving our house late this summer. From a young age I have prepared him/let him known he had to leave this house. Of all the things I am; Daddy is the coolest.
